Baldwin Park, California
Baldwin Park, incorporated in 1956, was established in the San Gabriel Valley in 1880. In 1906, the Baldwin Park area was known as Vineland. In 1906, the name of the town was changed to Baldwin Park after Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin.
Irwindale and the Santa Fe Flood Control Basin are to the north, unincorporated Los Angeles County and West Covina are to the east, the City of Industry and unincorporated Los Angeles County are to the south, and EI Monte is to the west.
Baldwin Park is home to the In-N-Out restaurant chain, established in 1948 and the In-N-Out university and training facility and meat packing plant. The company is one of the largest and most successful burger chains, in the United States.
Santa Fe Dam and Flood Control Basin
The Santa Fe Dam, completed in 1949, is a flood control dam located on the San Gabriel River in Irwindale immediately north of Baldwin Park. The basin is empty most of the year but serves to protect the surrounding area from intermittent flooding. During the dry season, which is most of the year, the basin provides various recreational activities. The basin also serves to recharge the groundwater in the area.
Baldwin Park Business Association
The Baldwin Park Business Association, established in 2014, is a nonprofit organization that supports businesses in Baldwin Park and the surrounding area. The organization provides numerous networking opportunities including mixers and lunch programs. Memberships are welcome.
Rancho Azusa de Dalton
Rancho Azusa de Dalton, originally Rancho EI Susa, was a 4,431-acre Mexican land grant located in the present-day San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County. The grant was made in 1841 and included parts of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Arcadia, Monrovia, and Irwindale.
Rancho La Puente
Rancho La Puente was a 49,000-acre Mexican land grant made in 1771. The grant included areas within present day Los Angeles County and present-day Orange County. Present day communities that were part of the grant include Avocado Heights, Bassett, Baldwin Park, San Dimas, Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, City of Industry, La Puente, Walnut, Covina, West Covina and small areas of South EI Monte and Irwindale.
