Airspace condominiums, also called air space condominiums, are the most common type of condominiums in California. In an airspace condominium, the unit or separate interest consists of the air space bounded by the inside surface of the perimeter walls, ceilings, and floor. Sometimes the attic is included, but not always. While most condominiums are air space condominiums, it is absolutely necessary to read the CC&Rs and Condominium Plan in order to determine the precise definition of a unit. Sometimes balconies, patios, storage areas, attics, and/or parking spaces are included in the definition.
